We’ve all heard dread stories of Napoli, that den of iniquity, the streets are full of trash, it’s dirty. And to some extent, they’re right. The city does have an edge to it, it’s certainly not clean, there’s grafitti everywhere (not the good kind) and the people are somewhat more abrupt than in other parts of the country. On the other hand you can enjoy some of the best pizza in the world and that’s no surprise, these people invented it. The city is one of the oldest in the country and beneath it are 400km of tunnels and cisterns. We took a tour of the Naples Underground (not the Metro system!), seeing just 1km of it. There are various other sections you can visit too and for anyone passing through the city, as long as they don’t suffer from claustrophobia, at least one of them is a must see.
